    Comments and Reference Maps:

Note:Small scale temperature variations may reflect terrain variations in instrument siting. As an example, ORC (Orange City) and SHL (Sheldon) in Northwest Iowa are only 30 miles apart, but have large temperature differences. The ORC instruments sit on a sandy ridge, while SHL's instruments sit in a river valley. These sites may reflect the extremes of a region, with most nearby areas having conditions in between.
